Body of Man Who Took His Life Along with Children at Do Darya Recovered
The body of a man who jumped into the sea with his two children at Do Darya in Karachi two days ago has been recovered. The man, identified as Aurangzeb Alam, a school teacher, was accompanied by his 8-year-old son, Ahmed, and 4-year-old daughter, Ayat.
According to eyewitnesses, the 40-year-old man jumped into the sea with his two children, aged between 6 and 7. During the rescue operation, the bodies of the boy and later the girl were recovered, while the search for the father continued. His body was found this morning.
Aurangzeb Alam, a resident of Orangi Town, Sector 8½, Gabol Goth, was a teacher at a private Aayat Islamic School. His in-laws reside in Orangi Town, Sector 14-C. He is survived by one other child who is with his wife. His brother, Sagheer Alam, revealed that Aurangzeb had filed a petition for custody of his children due to domestic disputes with his wife. The day before the incident, custody of the children was granted to his wife.
However, Aurangzeb’s family has refused to accept that the incident was a suicide. They describe him as a responsible, educated individual who loved his children deeply and could not have taken such an extreme step. The family is in a state of shock, with Aurangzeb’s mother’s health deteriorating due to grief. The recovery of the children’s bodies further deepened their sorrow, shattering their hopes.
Sagheer Alam stated that his brother was well-educated and known as Sher Alam, with a loving demeanor toward children. He was a father of three, one of whom remains with his wife. Despite some differences with his wife, which had led to court proceedings, efforts were underway to reconcile. The last meeting with Aurangzeb occurred in court, where he expressed his intent to resolve matters amicably. The family finds it unimaginable that such a person would take his own life along with his children.
Sagheer added that Aurangzeb was highly sensitive about self-respect and often endured painful situations in silence. The family, consisting of four brothers and two sisters, all married and living together, faced some internal issues that made direct communication with Aurangzeb challenging. The news of the incident has left the household in chaos, with the family describing it as unbelievable and heart-wrenching.
