UN Sounds Alarm: Gaza Starvation Crisis Hits Catastrophic Levels|Half a Million on Death’s Doorstep!

For the first time in history, the United Nations has officially designated a region in the Middle East as a famine zone, announcing that over half a million people in Gaza are deprived of the minimum food required for survival, and people are continuously dying of starvation.

In a joint statement, the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) stated that more than 500,000 people in Gaza are engulfed by famine, and this humanitarian crisis has reached its most severe form. The UN has demanded that Israel ensure uninterrupted access to food and medical aid for the people of Gaza to prevent further deaths from hunger and malnutrition. According to the organizations, the number of people suffering from malnutrition has tripled in recent months, and an immediate ceasefire is essential to halt this devastating trend.

The WHO clarified that this is the first officially recorded famine in the history of the Middle East. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report stated that several areas of Gaza are rapidly descending into extreme famine, and within the next few months, the entire population could face death.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, following the deaths of children in Khan Younis today, the number of people who have died from famine and starvation has reached 272, including 113 children.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated, “The famine in Gaza is a human-made tragedy. Israel must allow the delivery of food and medical aid to millions of people in Gaza.”

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said, “This famine has been deliberately created, a direct result of Israeli restrictions.”

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, stated, “Deaths from starvation in Gaza may potentially fall under the category of war crimes.”

The UN Deputy Humanitarian Chief, Tom Fletcher, said, “The famine could have been prevented, but Israel deliberately destroyed the aid system.”

Germany’s Foreign Ministry warned that if immediate action is not taken, the famine could deepen further, and it demanded that Israel allow the free and adequate delivery of humanitarian aid.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry called the UN’s famine report “Hamas propaganda.”

It should be noted that since March 2025, Israel has imposed strict restrictions on aid deliveries, controlling them solely through a controversial “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.” During this period, over 2,000 Palestinians have been killed and 15,000 injured in operations by the Israeli military and foreign contractors near aid centers.
