UK Jails Palestine Action Supporters, Ignores Gaza Genocide

Genocide operations in Gaza have been further intensified, but the British government, instead of taking any action against Israel, has started a crackdown on its own citizens raising their voices in favor of Palestinians.

The British government has imposed a complete ban on the organization named “Palestine Action,” declaring it a terrorist organization. This means that now membership or support of this organization carries a 14-year prison sentence.

After the ban, the Prime Minister’s office announced that:

Supporting a banned organization is a crime under terrorism law. Whoever supports ‘Palestine Action’ will have to go to jail as a ‘supporter of terrorists.

Despite this official threat, voices in support of “Palestine Action” are being raised globally. Ireland’s famous novelist Sally Rooney, in an article published in the Irish Times, announced that she will continue to donate a large portion of her income to “Palestine Action.

She wrote:

I too am a supporter of ‘Palestine Action.’ If this makes me a ‘supporter of terrorism’ under British law, then I accept it.

She further said:

Activists who stop the supply of weapons to those committing genocide are fulfilling a great human responsibility.

After the imposition of the ban under terrorism laws, more than 700 activists of “Palestine Action” have been arrested in Britain so far. During a protest at London’s Parliament Square, 500 individuals were detained, which is a new record for arrests in a single demonstration in British history.

These arrests are a declaration that peaceful protests against Israel in Britain are now considered a crime.

Human rights activists say that the actions of “Palestine Action” are mostly limited to symbolic protests, such as throwing red paint at various locations or surrounding weapons manufacturing companies. Despite this, the government has labeled them terrorists, while turning a blind eye to Israel’s blatant war crimes.

All these events reveal a single truth: the British government, for the sake of Israel, has sacrificed the freedom of expression, the right to peaceful protest, and the human values of its own citizens. Rulers who remain silent on the killing of millions of Palestinians are labeling those activists as terrorists who merely throw paint to show solidarity with the oppressed.
