Starving Israeli Hostages Spark Outrage: Hamas’ Bold Response Shocks Israel!
During the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, another dramatic turn came when Palestinian resistance groups released videos of the emaciated condition of two Israeli prisoners. Upon seeing these scenes, an emergency situation arose in Tel Aviv, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu requested immediate intervention from the International Red Cross.
But the spokesman of Hamas’s military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida, gave such a blunt response that it put the Israeli government in a defensive position. He clearly said:
“We will not give the prisoners any special facilities. They will eat what our mujahideen and people are eating. If Israel wants food to reach its captives, then first open permanent humanitarian corridors for the people of Gaza and stop the airstrikes.”
Israel, which since March has kept more than two million Palestinians in famine, hunger, and siege. Hundreds of children have died due to malnutrition, but now when a few of its prisoners faced a shortage of food, it launched a campaign to garner sympathy worldwide.
In this campaign, Israeli official accounts and diplomatic channels are at the forefront:
The Israeli government issued a statement: “The prisoners are being deliberately starved, the international community should intervene immediately.”
The Israeli embassy in Britain said: “Starving prisoners is an inhumane act, why is the world silent on this?”
On Twitter (X), pictures and videos of Israeli prisoners are being shared to create an emotional atmosphere.
All this is happening at a time when Israel has kept humanitarian corridors in Gaza closed for the past two years and is bombing aid convoys.
After the release of images of the prisoners’ emaciation, a strong reaction was seen in Israel. Protests took place in Tel Aviv and several other cities, in which the relatives of the prisoners heavily criticized the government. The protesters said that Netanyahu, by setting unrealistic conditions, has put the lives of the prisoners in danger.
According to Israeli statistics at this time, there are approximately 50 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, of which 20 are alive, while more than 10,800 Palestinians are detained in Israeli jails. Dozens of them have died due to lack of medical facilities and torture.
After Abu Ubaida’s statement, thousands of users reacted on social media. Hashtags #AbuUbaida, #AlQassamBrigades, #GazaFamine remained prominent in trends. Several analysts called the statement a “masterstroke,” saying that Hamas has once again pushed Israel into a defensive position.
In this entire situation, human rights activists heavily criticized the Red Cross. They said that this organization immediately became active for Israeli prisoners, but it never launched such an emergency campaign for the 12,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails or the two million besieged people of Gaza.
One analyst raised the question: “Is humanity only for Israelis? Where were these organizations when children were dying of hunger?”
