Gaza People Dying from Hunger Severity

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, in the past 24 hours, due to food scarcity, dozens of individuals, including children, have lost their lives. These are deaths whose primary cause is not bombardment, not bullets, but a prolonged and systematic starvation.

According to a recent United Nations report, at this time in Gaza, more than two million Palestinians are facing severe hunger. On a daily basis, deaths due to food scarcity are increasing, which the world is silently watching.

Surprisingly, the Israel and America-supported aid organization Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GFH), which has been distributing food since May, the items it provides contain no nutrition whatsoever. Professor Stuart Gordon of the London School of Economics says:

“This ration fills the stomach, but in terms of bodily needs, it is empty. Its purpose is only to prevent immediate death, but in the long term, it gives rise to a deadly condition like ‘hidden hunger,’ which causes anemia, scurvy, and other diseases.”

According to Dr. Andrew, an expert in international nutrition at University College London, these rations cause a severe deficiency of calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamins C, D, B12, and K, which increases the risk of nutritional diseases and physical deterioration—even if the quantity appears sufficient.

On the other hand, for those who manage to obtain these food boxes, the real issue is cooking the food. Dry items like rice, lentils, or powdered food require water and fuel—while Gaza is currently suffering from a severe water crisis and unavailability of fuel. Gas is completely shut off, and the Israeli army has repeatedly destroyed water supply systems.

The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned this week that the water crisis in Gaza has reached a dangerous level. Israeli forces are continuously destroying those installations that provide clean water to civilians.

The United Nations Food Aid Program has also clearly stated that in Gaza, one out of every three people is spending several days without food, while more than 90,000 women and children are awaiting urgent medical assistance.
