Zionist Propaganda in the West| The Grip on Public Minds and the Distorted Narrative
The ongoing massacre in Gaza and Israeli aggression have, on one hand, raised voices worldwide in support of the oppressed Palestinians, and on the other hand, the media and intellectual circles in the West appear to be part of an organized Zionist propaganda machinery. This propaganda not only captures public minds but also distorts facts in such a way that Israel is presented as the representative of the “civilized world” and Palestinians are portrayed as “extremists.”
One-sided news, fake news, and the sale of distorted narratives in Western media are not new. Protests outside the offices of institutions like the BBC and the New York Post indicate that even Western publics are now sensing this bias. Several journalists and media house employees have admitted that they are forced by their organizations to produce content in favor of Israel, while atrocities against Palestinians are downplayed or completely ignored.
This trend continues on social media platforms as well. Suspending accounts that reveal the truth about the Palestinian genocide has become routine. Even on the platform considered the freest, X, when Grok (Grok AI) presented evidence of Israeli atrocities in Gaza, its account was suspended. This is proof that, even in the West, which claims to champion “freedom of expression,” harsh measures are being taken to suppress the Palestinian narrative.
Now, this campaign is not limited to the media but is also being pursued in books and research materials to entrench the same bias. A clear example is Douglas K. Murray’s recent book, On Democracies and Death Cults: Israel and the Future of Civilization. In this book, Israel is portrayed as the guardian of capitalism, democracy, individual freedom, and rational thought, while the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas is described as a “death cult.”
The book criticizes international institutions and Western universities that oppose Israel’s aggressive actions and claims that if the West does not abandon this “wrong attitude” of sympathizing with Palestinian basic rights, it will not only harm Israel but also endanger the entire Western civilization. The author demands that the West unconditionally support all of Israel’s actions (including genocide) so that, in his words, “democratic values” and “human welfare” can remain secure.
It should be noted that Douglas K. Murray (born July 16, 1979, London) is known as a British author, political commentator, and cultural critic. Since 2000, he has been a regular contributor to the weekly The Spectator and its associate editor since 2012. Additionally, he regularly writes for global newspapers and magazines such as The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sun, Daily Mail, New York Post, and National Review.
In 2007, he founded a think tank called the Centre for Social Cohesion, which, according to him, was the first organization in the UK researching extremism and terrorism. From 2011 to 2018, he served as the associate director of the Henry Jackson Society. This organization is known for its pro-Israel policies and extremist stance against the Muslim world.
Individuals like Douglas Murray and their books reflect the Western mindset where facts are twisted to portray Israel as the hero and Palestinians as the villain. Through media, think tanks, and intellectual literature, a toxic narrative is being instilled in the minds of the general public. This is why a large portion of the Western public, disconnected from ground realities, begins to perceive Israeli atrocities as “defensive actions.”
This organized campaign to hide the atrocities inflicted on the Palestinian people and to cloak Israeli aggression in the guise of “civilized values” is proof that the Zionist propaganda machinery in the West is fully dominant not only in the media but also on the academic and intellectual fronts.
